have you been looking into this feature any further? I would also like to subscribe and publish 'clean' (named) mysensor messages.
My reasons are similar to what cslauritsen wrote above.

An alternative feature would be the possibility to add an generic 'External Server' in order to make HTTP posts or connect to an web hook. Although I would also miss the possibility to control things in the other direction (ie. relays, rbg light, etc.)
