How to play an mp3 file on condition?

Hej!

I have made some sound files so that mycontroller can 'talk' to me when certain conditions arise.

So how would I go about triggering the pi to play a sound sample from mycontroller. It should only need to be able to execute a bash command to play the required sound file.

This way I can hear directly which sensor has triggered or what has changed or even if the fridge gets too warm.....
